An Emirati woman who has spent years saving money in her bank was shocked to find that all the saved Dh379,000 has vanished and her account was just near zero. But with court help, the woman from Khor Fakkan retrieved more than she has lost.
The unnamed woman was withdrawing some money from her account through the teller machine when she froze - there was no money at all.
When she went into the bank and complained, she was told that there were no funds in her account as all of them had been withdrawn.
“She then produced all the receipts for her deposits in that bank during that period……the bank later acknowledged its mistake and told her one employee deposited her money in the account of another client with a similar name,” the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said.
It said the woman had also filed a suit against the bank and that the court ordered it to return all her money “plus a nine percent interest.”
